Guv bats for Koraput as major coffee hub

Koraput: Expressing satisfaction over the progress of coffee plantations, processing and marketing, governor Hari Babu Kambhampati on Monday said Koraput could emerge as a major coffee hub if the plantation area is further expanded.

The governor made the remarks on the first day of his two-day visit to the tribal-dominated district.

During a visit to the plantations at the Coffee Board premises in Koraput, he interacted with officials and growers, urging the board and district administration to prepare a detailed map identifying locations best suited for coffee cultivation. Given that Koraput is a Scheduled Area, he stressed that such mapping must clearly distinguish tribal land holdings from general category land.
